Hardware Intern (Autonomous Vehicle Retrofit)

Main goal Retrofit a low‑speed campus EV’s pedals and steering column with commercial linear actuators and a worm‑gear DC motor; produce CAD brackets and wiring harnesses. Companion project This hardware role runs  alongside a Control‑Software internship  (see “Autonomous Vehicle Retrofit – Software” on Riipen). If you’d like to pair up with a software‑focused learner, please note it in your cover letter. Key tasks Select actuators and motor. Compare COTS vs. custom hardware ROI. Coordinate sensor pin‑outs with software intern. Fit brackets to vehicle chassis and test.

Hands-On Electrical Engineering Intern – Bringing LiDAR, Sensors & Jetson Together

Telebotics is developing a Level 1 autonomy kit for micro-mobility vehicles, focusing on enhancing safety and efficiency in campus environments. The project involves designing and assembling a wiring harness that connects sensors, compute units (NVIDIA Jetson), and actuators (steering, brake, throttle) for a prototype vehicle. The goal is to ensure robust signal and power connections, facilitating safe remote operation and emergency braking. Learners will apply their electrical engineering knowledge to address challenges in signal integrity and power distribution, working closely with simulated product and software team inputs. This project provides a practical opportunity to integrate classroom learning with real-world applications in autonomous vehicle technology.

ROS2 Development- Campus EV Tele-Operation

Students will develop and enhance the vision-based safety system for our remotely operated campus vehicle. The project focuses specifically on improving the ROS2 nodes that process camera and LiDAR data to detect pedestrians and obstacles. Students will work with existing sensor hardware to create more reliable detection algorithms, implement visualization tools for the operator dashboard, and thoroughly test the system's performance. This focused project is ideal for computer science or robotics students with ROS experience who want to apply their classroom knowledge of computer vision and sensor processing to a real-world application.

Software Intern (Autonomous Vehicle Retrofit)

Main goal Develop ROS 2 control software that converts a low‑speed campus EV’s brake, throttle or steering into a closed‑loop drive‑by‑wire subsystem running on an NVIDIA Jetson. Companion project This software role runs  in parallel with a separate Mechatronics‑Hardware internship  (see “Autonomous Vehicle Retrofit – Hardware” on Riipen). If you prefer to work as a pair with a hardware‑focused teammate, mention it in your application. Key tasks Tool scan (OSCC, raptor‑dbw‑ros2). Evaluate linear‑actuator vs. DAC throttle schemes. Collaborate with hardware intern on sensor limits. Integrate CAN messages with Telebotics safety ECU.
